This Week's Tasting: May 22, 2018

 Wrangeback

Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese.
We stock over 150!

Another new cheese! Wrångebäck is our first cheese from Sweden. At Almnäs Bruk, a farm with a history that stretches back to the middle ages, they milk about 800 Canadian Holstein and Norwegian Fjordfe cows to make this raw milk Alpine-style with cheddar-y notes.

Also on our tasting plate this week:

Field of Creams, soft-ripened goat's cheese with herbs and pepper from Prodigal Farms in North Carolina.

Queso Oaxaca, fresh cheese patterned after the string cheese made in Oaxaca, Mexico. Handmade by the Mozzarella Company in Dallas.

Hook's Sheep's Milk Cheddar, smooth Wisconsin cheddar made from 100% sheep's milk and aged about 16 months.

Marieke Cumin Gouda, award-winning raw milk gouda flavored with cumin from Holland's Family Cheese in Wisconsin.

Maytag Blue, America's classic cow's milk blue from Iowa. They've tweaked the recipe - come try the new version!

Our wine of the week is Faisão Vinho Verde Rosé from Portugal. We taste wine from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Our pairing of the week is Esporão Olive Oil from Portugal.
