This Week's Tasting: May 29, 2018
Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese. We stock over 150!
Come by to try El Dorado a raw cow's milk cheese from Texas cheesemakers Eric and Karen Tippit. Eric and Karen own Revelation Artisan Cheese in Meridian. They often look to Spanish cheeses for inspiration, as they did for their El Dorado, which has a beautifully patterned rind rubbed with ash.
Also on our tasting plate this week:
Beer-washed Fleur de la Valle: soft-ripened goat's cheese from Missouri's Baetje Farm washed with 4 Hands Brewing Co.'s Chocolate Milk Stout.
Pt. Reyes Toma: great for melting or snacking. Semi-firm cow's milk cheese from Pt. Reyes Farmstead in California.
Castelrosso: piquant, buttery and nutty. A unique Italian cheese from the Rosso Family in Piemonte.
Central Coast Gouda: sweet, smooth California Gouda made from 100% goat's milk.
Red Rock: an American original, cheddar colored with annatto and veined with blue from Roelli Cheese in Wisconsin.
Our wine of the week is Portlandia Rosé from Oregon. We taste wine from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
Our pairing of the week is Garden Dreams Strawberry Balsamic Preserves from here in Houston!
