Why would I want to host a cheese tasting?

What's better than delicious cheese? Why, delicious cheese and booze, of course. Beer and cheese  bring out the best in each other, same with wine, and we can prove it. (back to top)

Where does the beer come from?

We partner with St. Arnold's Brewing Company, Houston's oldest craft brewery. They provide tasting portions of different kinds of beer as well as the special tasting glass (God is in the details). (back to top)

Who leads the tasting?

Both a Dairymaid and a representative from the brewery will be there to discuss the finer points of the flavor and background of what you're sampling. We will also provide a tasting sheet so you can follow along and take notes. (back to top)

Where do the tastings take place?

In your Houston home, backyard, or office. We just need enough space for guests to comfortably manage a plate of cheese and a beverage. You can also rent space at the St. Arnold's Brewery. (http://www.starnold.com/brewery/rentals.html(back to top)

What kind of cheese do I get?

We find the cheese that pairs best with each beer. This requires rigorous beer and cheese trials on our part. Successful past combinations include Pure Luck Chevre with Texas Wheat and Redneck Cheddar with Elissa IPA. (back to top)

What makes your cheese so special?

We work closely with Texas cheesemakers who make cheese by hand, often with unpasteurized milk. Their cheeses are unique and delicious. (back to top)

How many cheeses?

We recommend five cheeses and five beers for a tasting of about 45 minutes, depending on the number of questions the guests have.

But I want more cheese!

No problem, we can tailor the tasting to have as many cheeses as you want. (back to top)

What if I think stinky cheese is gross?

We're offended! No, it's cool. We'll work with you to make sure the cheese is in line with your preferences. (back to top)

How much does it cost?

Cost is figured based on the number of guests. Please call 713.880.4800 or email info@houstondairymaids.com for pricing. (back to top)

How do I run a DIY tasting?

We suggest you come by the warehouse or farmers market to talk pairings with us and we'll help you select the best cheeses and make sure you have all the information you need. (back to top)

What if I prefer wine?

We'd be happy to create a wine and cheese event for you. Call 713.880.4800 or email info@houstondairymaids.com.
