This Week's Tasting: February 19, 2019
Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese. We stock over 150!
Caveman Blue, from the Rogue Creamery in Oregon, is a natural-rinded blue made with organic cow's milk. Aged in the creamery's caves, Caveman picks up notes of earth and hay which compliment its thick, buttery texture and notes of tropical fruit and bacon.
Also on our tasting plate this week:
Bloomsdale, an ash-ripened goat's milk cheese from the Baetje Farms in Missouri.
Kirkham's Lancashire, a traditional, English style made with raw cow's milk from Graham Kirkham in the United Kingdom.
Bandaged Bismark, a raw sheep's milk cheese rubbed in smoked lard made by Grafton Village in Vermont and aged by Crown Finish Caves in Brooklyn.
Stracapra, a goat's milk cheese with a washed rind from Italy.
Alpha Tolman, a raw cow's milk cheese made in the Alpine-style from the Cellars at Jasper Hill in Vermont.
Our wine of the week is a Sauvignon Blanc from Ant Moore in new Zealand. We taste wine from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
We're also sampling Wildflower Honey Mustard from American Spoon.
