This Week's Tasting: January 31, 2020

Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese.
We stock over 150!

Holey Cow is an Emmentaller style made by the Central Coast Creamery in California. It has a nutty, sweet flavor and some really beautiful eyes (that's what cheesemongers call those holes). It also melts wonderfully and makes a great addition to any superbowl recipes.

Other cheeses on our tasting plate this week:

June's Joy, a whipped cherve flavored with honey, black pepper and thyme from the Pure Luck Dairy in Dripping Springs, Texas.

Invierno, a Tomme-style made from a blend of goat and cow's milk from Vermont Shepherd in Vermont.

Hatch Chili Cheddar, an Irish-style cheddar flavored with Hatch chili and rubbed with spices from Beehive Cheese in Utah.

Gubbeen, a washed rind cheese made with cow's milk by Gubbeen House in Ireland.

Buttermilk Blue, a rindless, raw cow's milk blue made by Roth Kase in Wisconsin.

Our wine of the week is a Cuvée from Anne Amie in Oregon. We taste wine from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

We're also sampling Pumpkin Seed Salsa from American Spoon in Michigan.
