This Week's Tasting: July 19, 2019

Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese.
We stock over 150!

This week's featured cheese is Mt. Alice, a Camembert-style made by the Von Trapp Creamery. The cheese has a smooth, creamy paste beneath an even, bloomy rind. Made from the family's own organic cow's milk, the taste starts off mild and rich, developng mushroomy notes as it ripens. Mt. Alice is named after a mountain peak near the farm in Waitsfield, Vermont.

Other cheeses on our tasting plate this week:

Fresh Chevre, a fresh, goat's milk cheese from the Pure Luck Dairy in Dripping Springs, Texas.

Carmody, a smooth, buttery cow's milk cheese from the Bellwether Farms in California.

Schnebelhorn, a traditional Alpine-style made with raw, cow's milk from Kaserei Butschwil in Switzerland.

Triple Barrel Cheddar, an extra aged version of the Veldhuizen Family Farm's Texas Gold Cheddar, made with raw cow's milk in Dublin, Texas.

Bleu 1924, a mixed cow and sheep milk cheese made in France by Société Laitière de Laqueuille.

Our wine of the week is the Prisma Rosé from Casablanca Velley in Chile. We taste wine from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.

We will also be sampling Urban Honey made by Words & Food here in Houston, Texas.
