This Week's Tasting: September 6, 2019

Every week at Dairymaids we select six cheeses to include in our free cheese tasting.
Whenever we are open, we are tasting cheese.
We stock over 150!

Gold Hill is a pasteurized goat’s milk cheese from Haystack Mountain in Colorado. Modelled after Spanish and Portuguese style cheeses, Gold Hill is semi-firm with a lightly washed rind. It has a buttery, tangy paste with a nutty and earthy complexity. It has received multiple awards from the American Cheese Society and at the World Cheese Awards.

Other cheeses on our tasting plate this week:

Chimney Rock, a double-cream Brie pressed in dried, ground mushrooms and spritzed with white wine from the Cowgirl Creamery in California.

Flory's Truckle, an English-style cheddar made by the Milton Creamery in Iowa.

Willoughby, a cow's milk cheese made in the washed-rind style from the Cellars at Jasper Hill in Vermont.

Sheep Gouda, a gouda made with raw sheep's milk from the Veldhuizen Family Farm in Dublin, Texas.

Dunbarton Blue, a natural-rinded cheddar blue from Roelli Cheese in Wisconsin.

Our wine of the week is a Vinho Verde from Pinho Real in Portugal. We taste wine from 10am to 1pm on Saturdays.

We will also be sampling a Fig Conserve from American Spoon in Michigan.
