SUMMARY:

Houston Dairymaids is a ten-year-old company in the Houston Heights that specializes in unique, handmade cheeses. We are seeking an individual experienced in foodservice to assist with all aspects of the cheese business including preparation of cheese trays, customer service, receiving, packing, maintaining and selling cheese. Applicants should be available to work weekends.

DUTIES:

• Prepare cheese and charcuterie trays.
• Learn about the cheeses we sell and convey information to our customers.
• Assist in the proper receiving of orders: checking invoices for accuracy, identifying any problems with newly received product, rotating stock properly, and putting items away in an organized manner.
• Assist in the preparation of orders going to wholesale customers: cut, wrap and label cheese to customer specifications.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the prep room
• Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.
• Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.

Essential Job Functions:

- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.

- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.

- Bend and lift loads up to 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.

- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (walk-in cooler)
